Apotheotics

Could I pour unending streams
But for the joy of splashing,
Or storm I high above the sea
But for the lighting flashing?

Might I become so much like you
That only my self-giving
Could ever light my deepest fire,
Or make my life worth living?

Is it true that once poured out
A cup is ever empty?
Or can my love become so true
That ends could never tempt me?

Could loving be enough itself
When this self is enough like yours?
Gathered in God’s giving hands,
I think for love I could alone be poured.

  1. Apotheotics Is an introspective expression of similitude that reminds me of Martin Buber as well as Frost’s Tree By My Window. I love poetry and yours is gifted.

      1. I’m looking forward to sharing my children’s books with you inasmuch as we both seem to favor iambic pentameter. Your email remains secret 🤫 but this mode is better than silence.
